There’s just something about Dandelion Communitea Cafe. From the huge plate of vegan nachos to the overstuffed wraps and weekly poetry/comedy nights, the eclectic restaurant is one of the best places in Central Florida that mixes great vegetarian and vegan food with a great cultural experience.
I spent an amazing afternoon playing in chocolate at Winter Park, Florida’s Peterbrooke Chocolatier! Although the locally-owned shop sells chocolate of all kinds, I had my eye on one in particular. The 72% Dark Chocolate, which just happens to also be vegan.
Video: Ethos Vegan Kitchen – The Best Vegan Homestyle Cooking in Central Florida
BBQ pulled chicken sandwich, sausage roll, mac & cheese — these are a few of my favorite things. The best part is that at Ethos it’s all VEGAN!
Chocolate cupcakes, vanilla cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon rolls, pies, cakes… I spent an entire morning surrounded by a few of my favorite things! And they were all vegan! Take a look at the video above to see my fun-filled day at Orlando’s vegan dessert hotspot Raphsodic Bakery, where owner Katie gave me an inside look at the makings of her vegan treats.
The first time I visited Ferrara Pizza and Pasta, I was on a 5-month countdown to my first trip to Italy. I was a bit skeptical of its promise of good Italian food. I had had my fair share of broken promises of authenticity when it came to non-American cuisine. But I was there for a colleague’s birthday celebration so I went with the flow.
Video: 3 Organic wines and beer you should try
Owned by husband and wife duo, Steve and Denise Beumer, Earth’s Best Beverages is a less than 10-year-old company that sources organic wine and beer from around the world and sells it locally. Each Sunday, the Beumers and, at least, one of their 10 children can be found manning their tent at the Downtown Orlando Famer’s Market at Lake Eola. Check out the video above for an inside peek at Steve and I discussing organic alcohol.
Over the weekend, Central Florida temperatures reached a high of 91 degrees. Driving around town, I saw convertible tops down and a lot of traffic, presumably people heading to a nearby park or family member’s home for some outside fun. For me, this type of weather is a clear call, bat-sign if you will, for the best time in summer: smoothie time.
