I love falafel sandwiches. So a few weeks ago, after remembering that I had scored a coupon for a free one from Hubbly Bubbly while attending Yelp’s Night at The Museum, I decided to treat myself to a weekday dinner out.
Hubbly Bubbly is located in a pretty big shop right on Edgewater Drive. Along with its large street sign and the even bigger wall art, there is absolutely no way you can miss it. Walking into the shop, I admit that I was pleasantly surprised. The inside was brightly lit with a few splashes of nicely done art on the wall. The thing that really caught my attention though was the Subway-like setup they had going on. I really like when my food is prepared in front of me; 1. So I can see all the options that I have at my disposal and 2. So I can make sure every measure is being taken to ensure that I won’t end up with food poisoning. Plus, the woman helping me with my order was really nice and helpful.
Hubby Bubbly has two vegan options: the Falafel and Lentils – both can be made as a pocket sandwich, salad bowl, or hummus bowl. For my first visit to the shop, I went with the Falafel pocket sandwich which was filled, actually stuffed with a lot of great, chopped veggies: cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles. Then it was all topped with a tangy tahini sauce, which was a mix of sesame paste, garlic, lemon, and salt. Although I enjoyed it, I definitely plan on trying the Lentil Pocket Sandwich next time. Because I’m me, I couldn’t just order the sandwich and be on my way. Nope! I had to try a few other items on the menu.
After a little bit of overthinking, I went with a side of pita chips and the house-made hummus, fried cauliflower with a side of Lily Sauce, which was the Tahini sauce with parsley, and you know that I couldn’t leave without trying the baklava. They were all great! Be sure to see the pictures below along with a few descriptions for more details.
