Tempeh Taco Salad & Cauliflower Chickpea Taco: Something Old, Something New at Infusion Tea

The moment that I received an email alerting me to Infusion Tea’s new seasonal menu, I knew that I had to go and try it, and ASAP. So, this past weekend I headed to what has become one of my favorite vegetarian/vegan eateries and ordered 2 items that I had yet to try: one from the new seasonal menu and one of the menu mainstays that I just never seemed to order.

For me, Infusion Tea has really become my go-to place for fresh, clean, and consistently good food. As a matter of fact, it was there that I gained a huge appreciation for beets. Oh, how I love them! They also do a really great job at turning regular meat dishes into meatfree dishes that would give carnivores a second look. There isn’t a thing on their menu that I’ve tried and haven’t at least liked a whole lot. I especially have a soft spot for their sweet potato tacos, which are no longer on the menu. I’m assuming that they went away with the new seasonal menu. At first, I was a little sad until I saw what was added in its place: the Cauliflower and Chickpea Taco. Yes!

Here is what’s stuffed inside of it: sweet, fresh chunks of cauliflower, well-seasoned chickpeas, kale slaw, cilantro guacamole, and sour cream. It was, of course, really good. But the most surprising part was how good the cauliflower was. It had this kind of sweetness that, although tasty and flavorful, I wasn’t quite expecting. Now, there are a few choices when ordering the tacos: they can either be ordered alone or as a combo, which comes with one taco and either a salad or soup. You know me, I went with the combo. One should always go with the combo. So, I went a little rogue with my next selection.

For my salad, I usually go with the Milton Special, which is topped with cranberries, sunflower seeds, hummus, tabouleh, and, of course, beets. This time, I decided to switch things up a bit and ordered the Tempeh Taco Salad. What a great decision! The huge chunks of meaty tempeh mixed with crushed tortilla chips, salsa, black beans, and field greens was packed with flavor! I couldn’t get enough. It hasn’t taken the place of my Milton Special but it definitely comes in second.

If you’re interested in trying the Cauliflower and Chickpea Taco, be sure to try it soon. It won’t be on the menu forever. Be sure to check out the pictures below for more details on my eating adventure at Infusion Tea.

See all of the cauliflower? It had the perfect flavor. Oh, don't forget about the chickpeas. They were a great addition too.

Here's a closeup of the Tempeh Taco Salad. Tempeh is such a great alternative to beef. It is meaty and has this kind of distinct flavor. I have to admit there was one thing that left me a little annoyed: there was far too much greens! At the end, I was left with a pretty substantial amount of leaves on my plate. Everything else was in my tummy.
