A night of cheese at Whole Foods

Free. Cheese. Tasting. Where do I sign up?

On a random weekend trip to Whole Foods while picking up items for the week’s lunch and dinner, I came across a sign that would make my entire trip that much more worth while: free cheese tasting. Without a second thought, I quickly dodged through the weekend aisle traffic and pushed my way to the cheese department. I had questions. Well, I actually had only one question: where do I register? It’s 2014, so the answer was online (of, course). The moment that I arrived home, after putting my groceries in the fridge, I quickly went to the Whole Foods website and signed my name on the dotted line. I was registered! Now, all I had to do was actually make it there, which was more difficult than it seemed. For weekday events, I at times find that I talk myself out of attending. After a long day at work, going home is such a welcomed end to the day.

But, this was different. This was cheese, free cheese. There was no excuse that would keep me from that event.

Here are the different cheeses that I sampled (inserted inside a grilled sandwich):

  • Raclette with Arugula
  • Gruyere with Cherry Spread
  • Berliner with Onion Jam and Pimento Spread
  • Rosemary Asiago with Tomato

My two favorites were the saxons creamery rosemary asiago and the berliner. It took a little bit of time deciding on which to take home with me, but I ultimately chose the rosemary asiago. It was creamy with a nice touch of saltiness.
